carnivore

An animal designed to eat an all meat diet.

What it means?

A carnivore is an animal that gets food from killing and eating other animals. They thrive and survive by eating an all meat diet.

What it means

How it applies?

Most will argue that dogs are omnivores because they can eat plant matter. While this is true, this is because dogs overtime have adapted to their environment in order to survive, although a dog's gastrointestinal system and dentition shows that dogs are opportunistic carnivores, whereas cats are obligate carnivores.

Additional info?

Dogs can benefit from some fruit and veggies, although it all should be fed in moderation. Veggies need to be steamed, pureed or fermented for digestion and for the nutrients to be bioavailable.
