chia seeds

Chia seeds are the edible seeds of a plant native to Central America. They absorb water and form a gel and are a good whole food source of soluble fiber, omega 3's, and other nutrients

Why we feed?

The soluble fiber helps boost your dog's gut health, firm loose stools, and ease constipation. It is high in omega 3's which can help balance your dog's omega ratio to keep their skin and coat healthy and shiny. It also helps keep your dog feeling fuller for longer and is high in protein, B vitamins, and minerals.

Why we feed

How to feed?

Since chia soaks absorb a lot of water, pre-soak them to form a gel before feeding especially for kibble-fed dogs. Feeding too many chia seeds dry can make your dog thirsty and cause blockages. Make sure your dog has access to fresh water at all times. For standard dosing, feed 1 tsp for small dogs and 2 tsp for large dogs.

Additional info?

Chia seeds are packed full of nutrients for their size! A little goes a long way and like most seeds and nuts, they are in high in fat. They make a great addition to homemade dog treats for hiking or dog sports!
