Raw turmeric should not be given to dogs as the beneficial components are not easily absorbed in this form. Turmeric should be cooked with a carrier oil and an activator like black pepper to enhance its bioavailability, amplifying its efficacy.

Like raw turmeric, providing powdered organic turmeric in its basic form may yield only some significant benefits. To optimize its potential, the preparation of Golden Paste is recommended.

1 ½ tsp of freshly ground organic black pepper –  Piperine, the active ingredient in pepper, helps curcumin absorb better into the body. One study showed that by combining curcumin and piperine, the absorption rate of curcumin was significantly increased.

¼ cup of organic MCT, ghee, or organic cold-pressed coconut oil, which helps with absorption as curcumin is insoluble in water  

Boil half the water, saving the other half to add if the mixture is too thick.

Once boiled, remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly.

Add the turmeric powder and stir until the mixture thickens 

If the paste is too thick, add more water.

Add the oil and pepper and stir thoroughly once the paste has the right consistency.

When completely cooled, put it into a jar with a lid and store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
