Maintaining a healthy balance of omega-6 and omega-3  is essential when your dog is experiencing liver disorders. Hemp oil, phytoplankton, and whole small oily fish are good sources of Omega-6 and Omega-3.

Vitamin supplementation, especially B complex vitamins, as they are essential in the detoxification processes within the liver, should also be included in your dog's diet. Providing fish and eggs to your dog will maintain her vitamin B levels. 

Creating meals that are enticing to your dog is critical. Anorexia, commonly seen with liver disease, makes keeping your dog well-nourished challenging. Rather than feeding large meals once or twice a day, try enticing your dog to eat small meals and treats consisting of fresh foods. 

Sulforaphane, cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, broccoli sprouts, Brussels sprouts, kale, or cauliflower have potent anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer benefits. Sulforaphane activates phase two of the liver detox, allowing the water-soluble toxins to be flushed from the body. It also activates enzymes that can help protect your dog's cells from DNA damage from carcinogens and other toxic substances, including chemotherapy and other pharmaceutical agents. 

Broccoli sprouts have the highest levels of sulforaphane, being 100 times the level of broccoli. Use the fresh broccoli within ten days of harvesting, if possible. You must chop the broccoli and sprouts to release or grind the chopping to activate myrosinase. This enzyme converts glucoraphanin into sulforaphane—letting the chopped broccoli sit for 90 minutes or longer before feeding your dog to triple the sulforaphane levels.
